New Year’s Eve!

Hi, catreaders! First post of 2 0 1 7 and I’m feeling very positive and cosy! How was your New Year’s eve? What did you do and whom did you spend it with? I spent my first time ever eve abroad and without my family. It was definitely a different experience, but my in-laws are the nicest people ever and they made me feel so loved and welcomed. My mother-in-law is part of the committee of their town and every year, they host a big fancy dinner to anyone who wants to pay and eat a delicious meal and drink all them can. This year, my boyfriend and I decided to have a cosier and simpler eve, because one, we’re getting too old to party until 7am, and two, I love hanging out with his parents. Does that make me weird? I honestly love spending time with them, so I was more than thrilled to be spending New Year’s Eve with them. So, for the first post of 2017, I thought I would share my evening with you.

I started by waxing and pampering in the afternoon. I did a facial scrub (homemade! Comment if you want me to share it with you), followed by a facial moisturising mask. I painted my nails a light brown with a grey-ish undertone; something very simple and that I always do myself. I like KiKo gel nail polishes, they are easy to use and last for a week and a half or longer, especially if you use the top coat! Then, I took a shower and used a body scrub, so I could feel completely pampered. After showering, I buttered myself up with some Nivea body lotion and blow-dried my hair just a little. I like it air-dried so it’s in its natural curliest form. I did my full face make-up as I normally do, adding a little more foundation than normal and a purple-ish bronze eye. Of course I added some falsies too. I use the individual medium ones from Tanya Burr cosmetics – I am totally in love with her products. Let me know if you want me to write about them soon! And then, I got dressed! I have a picture of my outfit that I will share with you, but I do apologise for the lack of creativity in the photo – I was in a hurry so I just snapped one quickly before I got dressed.

And about my hair, I just let it very simple as I had not think of what to do with it until I finished showering. I ended up braiding two small pieces of hair on each side and tying them together on the back. It gave it some dimension and to be honest, I didn’t know how dressed up people would be, and I found my dress quite dress-y so I didn’t want to overdo it. And I was right. People were nicely dressed but not very New Year’s party like.

The best part of all comes now. Dinner. The place was packed! 150 people, I believe. And my mother-in-law and the other members of the committee  (all volunteers) served us all, all night long. We started off the evening with some champagne and a starter. I have to say we had 3 different kinds of starters, a main course, cheese and salad (French, right?) AND a platter of desserts. It was a huge meal, but it took us six hours to finish dinner, because in between each meal we danced. They had a DJ, who let’s say was no David Guetta, but he played a few nice songs to which we enjoyed ourselves dancing. I also snapped a few photos of the meal, and you can check them below.

We went back home at around 3am. As I said before, we’re getting too old to staying up until early in the morning. I love partying and having a few drinks, but other than this evening, I can’t even remember when was the last time I was up this late. Getting old’s hard, Lord.  (My in-laws stayed up until 5:30am, I bow down to them!) AND there you go! This was my eve. My start of 2017. With people I love and my first ever without my family. It was a great one, though, and I would do it all over again. It was also the first one spent with my boyfriend, and as the clock stroke midnight, there was no one I wished I’d spend 2017 with. How was your eve? Tell me everything in the comments!

Have an amazing, full of new experiences and love, 2017, catreaders!
