Hello! How are you all today? I’m very happy to be sharing with you all a little bit of my do’s and don’ts for when decorating our homes! These are my own little personal rules, so don’t feel obliged to follow them, but keep in mind that I inhale decor and flipping houses tv programs – I know a thing or two, basically! Here we go:
Don’t have too much clutter! It just makes a space look heavy and it’s more difficult to feel cosy in it.
Do choose your most expensive or favorite piece of furniture (or painting) and decorate around it. This is honestly one of the best ways to start decorating. You choose one thing you love and then everything else will fall into place.
Do hang artwork at eye-level. If you decide to create an art wall, then obviously this doesn’t apply.
Don’t make everything symmetrical. Don’t be afraid to pull your furniture from against the walls or use mismatched couches or nightstands.
DO mix and match materials and textures! Imagine an industrial, country kitchen. The metal with the wood. The harsh copper pipes and the delicate marble. Beautiful, ha?
Don’t use just one colour. It is so trendy to use colour at the moment! You don’t need a rainbow in your living room if you don’t want to, but colour is good!
What are your pet hates when it comes to decor? Let me know!
