Hello, everyone! Welcome to a new travelling post. This week’s destination: Finland! If you didn’t know already, Finland is a great winter destination and I’m here to tell you exactly why.
First and foremost, it’s the home of Santa Claus! I mean, this is something significant, especially if you’re travelling in winter. Who wouldn’t want to see the real Santa? If you go to Rovaniemi, which is the capital of Lapland, you’ll be able to visit the home of Santa and obviously, you’ll be in freaking Lapland, so enjoy!
Finland is also known as the land of a thousand lakes. It is incredible to see how much truth there is in this when you get there. I’ve never seen such beautiful lakes as there. And if this wasn’t enough, just imagine how cool it’ll be to run from your steamy, hot sauna to a cold, fresh lake water! I haven’t done it myself but I’m hoping to do so this New Year’s.
Lonkero! I’ve been dying to go back to Finland just so I can drink a lot more of Lonkero. Honestly, best drink ever. It’s usually a mixed drink made from gin and grapefruit juice. Yummy! Definitely try it out if you’re in Finland.
Another reason why you definitely consider going to Finland is that Finns are such a friendly people! They’ve even won the 2018 World Happiness Report, which ranked 156 countries based on their GDP, generosity, social support, freedom, corruption and more. They truly are amazing and they’ll help you out of kindness and not expect something in return. It’s not a coincidence one of my best friends is a Finn, ha?
Tampere and Kokkola! Two of the nicest cities I’ve ever visited! Very different from each other but both very welcoming. Tampere reminds me a little of Manchester because of its brick buildings and is a big city, in where you’ll find great food and parks to relax at. Kokkola has a port and a very American (US) vibe for some reason. Both beautiful!
Are you already booking your ticket? I have mine already and can’t wait to revisit all these cool cities with a nice chilled Lonkero in my hand!
