Hi, guys! If you’ve ever wanted to travel to Asia, Laos is a beautiful place to start your trip. And if you’ve never thought of Laos as a must-visit, I’m giving you 10 reasons why you should definitely add it to your bucket list!
Here they are:
1. The viewpoint Nong Khiaw!
Wow! Look at that view! The place is open everyday from 7am to 5pm. You need to do a little bit of hiking to get there but I’d say you don’t want to skip posting this on your Instagram!
2. The Kuang Si waterfalls
If hiking isn’t your thing, look at how incredible this must feel. It doesn’t even look like water to me. This is a 3 levelled waterfall just south of Luang Prabang.
3. The night market in Luang Prabang
If you’re staying around the area, after visiting the waterfalls, why not make a little trip to this incredible night market? It starts from 5pm and it has many, many stalls to satisfy all your desires. Some call it a food paradise!
4. The Buddha Park or Xieng Khuan
Apparently, there are more than 200 religious statues to see. I can already imagine how tranquil it must be being there and how stunning those statues are.
5. Tubing in Vang Vieng
Tubing is basically you renting a rubber tube, getting on the Nam Song river and stopping along the river to have a few beers and play a few games. It sounds like a perfect afternoon if you ask me!
6. The Alms giving ceremony of the monks
In Luang Prabang, there’s a daily ceremony, which involves the monks walking around the city, collecting their daily meal from the locals. It is a very powerful and emotional tradition and even though the monks collect alms, they also get food that the locals prepare just for them. It sounds like an amazing tradition that I wouldn’t want to miss when visiting the country.
7. The Elephant Conservation Center
The coolest thing about this for me is that you can even sponsor an elephant. Besides visiting and being totally enamoured, you actually get to help them.
If you like travelling because of the food you get to experience, I have 3 more reasons (foodie ones) for visiting Laos:
8. Naem Khao Tod
This is a crispy rice salad. Yep, you heard that right! How delicious does this look? Yummy! You have peanuts and coconut. What a mouth watering combo!
9. Sai Oua or Lao Sausage
This is chopped pork meat seasoned with many different herbs. Typically eaten with rice and vegetables. I don’t know about you but when I hear sausage, I’m buying tickets to that country!
10. Bia Lao
Beer is good anywhere and I’m an apologist that we must try local beers everywhere we go! So, these are my 10 reasons to visit Laos! There are many others, but these definitely tempted me. I’m already booking my flights, what about you?
Beer Lao – amen! You can’t get it from anywhere else makes the crisp taste even more special
