Marriage For One by Ella Maise: Review

Hi, everyone, welcome back! I’ve decided I’ll dip my feet into reviews again, just for Ella! I’ve been dreaming of reading Marriage For One ever since Ella posted on Instagram she was writing it. I’ve been fangirling over since.

This was the collage I came up with by the way. And if this doesn’t make you want to dive right in, I don’t know what will! But, just in case this helps, I will be sharing my feelings about this book too. Just enjoy this summary first:

Jack and I, we did everything backward. The day he lured me into his office-which was also the first day we met-he proposed. You’d think a guy who looked like him-a bit cold maybe, but still striking and very unattainable-would only ask the love of his life to marry him, right? You’d think he must be madly in love.

Nope. It was me he asked. A complete stranger who had never even heard of him. A stranger who had been dumped by her fiancé only weeks before. You’d think I’d laugh in his face, call him insane-and a few other names-then walk away as quickly as possible. Well…I did all those things except the walking away part.

It took him only minutes to talk me into a business deal…erm, I mean marriage, and only days for us to officially tie the knot. Happiest day of my life. Magical. Pop the champagne… Not. It was the worst day. Jack Hawthorne was nothing like what I’d imagined for myself.
I blamed him for my lapse in judgment. I blamed his eyes, the ocean blue eyes that looked straight into mine unapologetically, and that frown on his face I had no idea I would become so fascinated with in time.

It wasn’t long after he said I was the biggest mistake of his life that things started to change. No, he still didn’t talk much, but anyone can string a few words together. His actions spoke the loudest to me. And day after day my heart started to get a mind of its own.

One second he was no one. The next he became everything.
One second he was unattainable. The next he seemed to be completely mine.
One second I thought we were in love. The next it was still nothing but a lie.

After all, I was Rose and he was Jack. We were doomed from the very beginning with those names. Did you expect anything else?

You can read other reviews and see where to buy it on Goodreads.

This gave me all the feels! Rose is a dream gal and I wanted to be her best friend. She’s funny and witty and her coffee shop is where I see myself in whenever I think of a magical, welcoming café. Jack was Jack – an alpha male but with the right traits and not forceful.

The story advances slowly and gives you all the details you need to cosy up with it on a cold afternoon with a cup of tea next to you. I can already imagine re-reading this later in the year and fall in love all over again with Jack and Rose. It’s a story that will keep your heart warm long after you’ve turned the last page.

Just a little warning: it might make you hate your boyfriend or partner because no one can live up to what Jack does and how he is around Rose. I mean, c’mon, Ella! Give us a break with these amazingly-perfect-and-flawed-all-at-once male characters! It’s just not fair…

Have you read this book too? What did you think? And if not, do you feel like it now? I sure hope so because if you don’t, you’ll be missing out on something quite special!

Goodreads Challenge: April 2019

Heya, welcome back! If you’ve been reading about my Goodreads Challenge this year, you probably know I’ve been stuck. It’s as if I have writer’s block, but in this case, I just have reader’s block. Whenever I pick up a new book, I can’t read more than half a page. A page, max. My mind wanders non-stop and I can’t focus on what I’m supposed to be reading.

Therefore, you’ll know this hasn’t been a very successful month. But are you even surprised? Last month, it was just as awful and after having checked my Goodreads account, I found out that I finished a book March 11th and only picked up another one April 22nd. And that was for book club, so does it truly count? I mean, I had to read it and forced myself to spare some time over the Easter weekend. And just yesterday, funnily enough, I started reading another one that got me pretty psyched and I’m almost done. Two books in a month is really not much and I’m really behind my goal for this year, but hey, I don’t want to force myself to love something or do something just because.

So, here are the two books I read this month.

Beautiful one. I was disappointed, but beautiful nonetheless. Check it out here.

And Irresistible by Melanie Harlow. I actually loved/am loving this one. It’s just easy to read and I fell in love with the story right from the start.

What have you been reading lately? Are you in a slump like me?

Wordless Wednesday: This Be The Verse

I finished Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng yesterday and this poem was part of it. It caught my attention basically.

Did You Know Amazon Have Its Own Brand!? *Must Buy!*

Heya! How are you? New week, new opportunities to do something amazing! This week has started with a long, long weekend coming to an end but I’ve had lots of fun. I truly felt like I was on holiday and the weather has been amazing! Today, I want to share with you something I found out only two weeks ago. And yes, it’s exactly what the title says…

O-M-G! Amazon have its own brand!

Did ya know!? Cos I didn’t! I only found out about it when I was scrolling through their articles, as one does when one is bored. I can’t quite say yet if their products are cheaper than if you go to your regular supermarket, and I can’t say anything about quality because I haven’t tried it myself, but I love the idea. I’ll share here some of their products:

This whole thing started because of these bars actually:

I was looking for some good protein bars because I find them so helpful when I feel like having a snack in the afternoon and my BGs are at 120+ (so I never want to increase them by eating) and I found these ones. They’re very cheap and they sound delicious. I have yet to try them but will keep you posted!

Then, I found toilet tissue. Which I’m still debating whether it’s cheap or not. But here it is.

They also have coffee beans.71tw3NXcj5L._SL1500_

And laundry capsules:71oG0NzvbQL._SL1500_

Even baby wipes!91F123QmfwL._SL1500_

And razors91PcPrYzuhL._SL1500_

Almonds, anyone? I actually find these not that expensive and wanna try them!91Op77OJpsL._SL1500_

BBQ sauce?? They also carry Mayo, Ketchup and Mustard… and most likely, other sauces too.71Wsz0HI7zL._SL1500_

And even cat food. I mean, they have everything.81Elk9JhiTL._SL1500_

I mean, I actually really love Amazon and I don’t know why but this makes food shopping a ton more exciting to me! Would you consider buying from Amazon? Maybe not everything but certain items? Let me know in the comments below!
